I have a 6 week old hatchery quality Salmon Faverolles labeled “female” that I’m fairly sure is a male. Anyway he’s pretty small compared to the rest of the chicks and his feathering is slow as well. Is this normal? Also he’s been scrunching his neck in today and I’m a bit worried.

What hatchery is it from? I had a Speckled Sussex who was the same way. My chickens killed her. I think they knew something was wrong with her. It could just be a genetic or internal problem. Its hard to know. Is she eating well? What are you feeding her? What makes you think its a male?

MyPetChicken, they’re on Green mountain grower, ( instructions said to feed at 5-6 weeks ) he’s eating, Salmon Faverolles feather in black on their belly, legs and head if it’s a male, cream on chest and legs if female. And although hatchery chicks can vary he’s super black everywhere.
