Hi,

I got what I thought was a few week old Salmon Faverolle from our local chicken supply store the other day. I had my husband pick it up so I did not see it until he brought it home. I noticed the chick that I got has un-feathered yellow feet with only 4 toes. I believe the feed store gets their chicks from Meyers. Could it be a different breed or just poor quality. They also said this chick was about 2-3 weeks old and to me it looks younger.

I agree. I was trying to find a companion for my 4 week only silkie chick (I had just lost my other silkie to a hawk) and the feed store said they had a 2-3 week old Salmon Faverolles that would be about the same size as my silkie. This one is significantly smaller.

Definitely not a Faverolles, even a poor quality one, with those yellow clean legs and 4 toes. Not a Delaware either. Where did they get their chicks?

I think Meyers. They said a hatchery in Ohio. I went back today to try and return it and the owner of the feed store told me it was definitely a faverolles and and was hatched April 5.

I have a mystery bantam chick that looks just like this! I can't seem to find a decent picture of her at 2 weeks, but at one he/she was basically a yellow fluff ball and then the black dots on his/her wings started showing up around the 2-3 week mark. She/he was definitely not more developed looking than your picture at 2 weeks old.

Here's a picture at 4 weeks:

All I know about this chick is its a bantam (supposedly purebred) from a local farm supply store.

Yours looks very similar to mine. I wonder if mine is some sort of bantam. It's so much smaller than my than my 4 week old silkie. I'm debating whetherto keep it and see what it turns out to be or re-home.

Were you ever able to determine the breed? I have one that looks very similar that I can't figure out.
