Salmon Faverolles "pullet" starting to feather black...

She looks exactly like my Salmon Pullet except with more black. My girl only has a little bit of black on the tips of her wings. But it looks like you have a Pullet with odd coloration!

Looks just like my SF pullet. I also got mine from ideal and she is almost mostly black. I was also nervous about the black breast feathers but she is almost 6 weeks old and showing all the sign of being a pullet. Now If I can figure out those silkies!

OMG, I am partially relieved seeing these photos of dark SF pullets! I was just about to post the same question on here about my 7-week-old. This one was much slower to feather in than the other SF and now that it is the chest is all black! It's taking a lot of will power not to run out to the coop and wake the poor thing up to look at the primaries per some of the other Faverolle threads here. Fingers crossed it's just a dark female! If it's male this will be 2 out of 6 pullets ordered from My Pet Chicken that will most likely turn out to be roos. (My SLW is looking more masculine with each passing day. Sigh.) Has anyoneelse had sexing problems with MPC chicks?

Here's the mystery Fav (top roost). I'll have to get a better picture since I wasn't really focusing on that one for the pic.

Our other Faverolle is definitely a pullet, just to compare and contrast.

I think the first is just a badly colored pullet, but post a clearer picture to make sure.

Wow, i really wonder what is going on with the Salmons at the hatcheries…….a Salmon Faverolle should look like a Salmon Faverolle and be easier to sex at a young age but several of the hatchery stock seems to be losing that…….I'm not saying that the results are not pretty, they are….but…….???

My hatchery Favs did lose all the black, it'll be interesting to see if some of these really dark chicks do as well.

I, too, wonder about my Ideal Poultry Hatchery SF. She is 12 weeks old. She is at the bottom of the pecking order of my 20 hens (although no one is really mean to her, just snappish sometimes). You can see her coloring is dark and not what I expected from a SF.

HI, it seems that Ideal, according to other comments on this list, is one of the hatcheries that keeps breeding Salmon Faverolles that are not exhibiting normal coloration. Take a picture, send it to them with a catalog picture to let them know that You like Your bird but it does not represent a Salmon Faverolle….This is the only way they will start thinking about this….She's pretty, but not Salmon…...
