Hello to all you Urban Farmers out there. The hubby and I have a little flock in Woodburn, OR. We have two ducks, one drake, four hens and two roos. These are, respectively, two Kaki Campbells, one Duclair (by best estimate), two Rhode Island Red hens, two bantam hens, and two bantam roos of various types.
Here's a Kaki hen with my mother-in-law, sweet isn't it?:
With two Shetland sheep dogs in the mix we are one big, happy family.
Though we are novices, our enthusiasm has done much to offset our lack of experience.
On a side note, the husband has said that the roosters need to find a new home soon, or we are going to have a small chicken dinner. They are so beautiful it would be a shame to serve them with a side of potatoes. If anyone in Oregon would be interested in two friendly, yet talkative, roosters, please let me know.
Here are the two roos:
Thanks to all, and I look forward to being part of the BYC community.
