I was confident enough to finally make an attempt at free ranging my ducks for a day since I hadn't had any problems in a while. Well, I got paraniod and herded them into a pen I had been working on but it was incomplete. I just went inside to take a break, and I heard my rooster going beserk, looked outside and saw a husky bouncing off the web of the duck pen! It was the same neighbor, which one of her dogs killed 19 of my chickens, but a new dog this time. I yelled at the dog but no response. Fortunately my half-*** pen worked and no one was hurt. I caught the dog ( which was really nice) and we tied it up. Later that day we took it to the pound. My neighbor was pretty upset I found out, but really? Kill my birds once shame on you, twice shame on me! I'm nearly complete with a bear proof pen (yeah, a bear ate my replacement chicks) made of materials salvaged at the dump. Galvanized metal grates, galvanized fence post, web, topped off with gillnet for raptors. Now I can sleep better!

Did your neighbor ever make it right with you when their last dog killed all those birds? It's amazing to me that the neighbor would have the gall to be upset at you for taking the dog to the pound. Could have been far worse for the dog!

My newish neighbor has a husky that frequents our property while his owner is at work. I don't have chickens yet but anticipate he will be a threat. This dog has torn up stuff in the garage, tried to dig into my dogs fenced yard and tried to run our pony. Confronted neighbor. He said he would tie him up till he could secure the pasture fence. The dog has never been tied up and he leaves is drive gate wide open. He said I could shoot the dog if it was nuisance. Why is it my responsibility to keep his dog from roaming? He asked another neighbor if his dog has been bothering them. So he has every intention of allowing this large dog to go wherever it wants but it's up to the neighbors to euthanize his dog if it is troublesome.

We have the same situation. Our neighbors dog runs the neighborhood and has killed 1 mans chickens and 2 of another persons guinea foul. i saw the dog attempting to dig under my fence to gain access to my yard. i free range my chickens so if he gets into my yard he WILL kill all of my chickens. I called the neighbor and let them know he was attempting to get into my yard. This is NOT a dog that can be caught and taken to the pound! If you try to get ahold of him he will bite.
They apologized and said they would keep him home. The very next day he was again running the neighborhood and standing at my fence watching the chickens. It is only a matter of time. So again I called them......Their response was shoot the dog if he is a problem. So I said OK, if he gains access to my property he will immediatly be shot. The only problem with that mindset is one I have to shoot someones dog because they are too lazy to keep it home. Another is the laws in Georgia do not allow me to shoot the dog because he is standing at my fence or attempting to dig in..he has to be actively killing livestock for me to legally shoot him. Last once he is IN MY yard...it is too late! I guess they think I am standing at the window with a gun in my hand all day!

Double check your livestock protection laws. Dog is at least harrassing livestock which in my situation is gray area that law enforcement will side with livestock owner. Also have a camera ready for photographing dog trying to get in. Last dog I dispatched was photographed multiple times before I did deed. This provided pictoral evidence needed to tangle with neighbor concerning property damage.
