San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hope I'm doing this right...

I was wondering if anybody knew of any speckled sussex chicks looking for a home? I can manage one more chicken in the little flock and I've been searching for a SS. The older chicks (two ameraucana and two Dominique's) are about 15 weeks, two SLW are 12 weeks and the little new Ameraucana and SLW are 3 weeks. So I'm looking for somebody young that can have playmates before total integration. I've tried a few people on craigslist, but it has yet to work out. Any help would be great. Thanks so much!!

Oh yeah, we're in La Mesa if that helps...we can have chickens here, right? Ha!

WWF has just about everything and lives in La Mesa. All-American-Girl had some close to laying age for sale at the last meet up, you could check and see if she held any back at home. My mom lives in La Mesa and has chickens and a rooster. She does bring the rooster in to the garage at night, but she's had them for years. She has ducks too but she got Muscovies so no quacking.

Hello everyone,

I know this is late in the season for heritage turkey eggs or poults. but if you happen to have them still, please PM me on their availability and price. I am trying to hatch four poults for a friend so am looking for 8+ eggs or four week-old poults. Thank you so much.

Hey everyone! I have recently bought two mini lamancha does. They are so cute and sweet!

But I am new to goats (but I've researched and read books like crazy) so more information on how I should go about this would be helpful

Anyway, I would like to breed them before the end of the year. I would like to know if anyone has any kind of mini buck I could breed them to. I'm not too worried about pure bred for their first kidding. They were recently tested for CAE and got a clean bill of health. They are up to date on their vaccinations and I have the paper work to show. Any help would be much appreciated thanks

Congrates on your new goats! Can we see pictures? On the subject of breeding, I would jake sure you breed them to a CAE free buck thats from a safe herd! I am interested in CAE free Mini LaManchas, let me know if you decide to sell kids!

Thanks! I'll post some pics of them tomorrow

Yeah I guess I should have put that the buck should be CAE free too, if anyone responds I'll be sure to ask. I don't plan to keep any of the kids this breeding just want the milk and experience. I'm still looking for someone with mini lamanchas but if I can't I'll probably just cross them this time.

Hi

I try to hatch a few Speckled Sussex every week. They are so pretty!! They seem to sell pretty quickly but I think I have one left that hatched Sunday. Give me a call if you are interested. Thanks, Gail 619 665-3100

Here are some pictures of the My new mini-lamanchas

They are first generation cross so they have the "elf ears" but I love them

They are gorgeous.... I thought that LaManchas are allowed elf or no ears....? maybe you could cross with a Nigerian Dwarf if you can't find any Mini LaMancha bucks? There are a lot of Nigerian Dwarf breeders in San Diego.
