San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Any one know of a rescue in San diego that takes chickens, ducks and rabbits? there is a crippled woman in the neighbor hood that just had a bunch of animals dumped on her, I am not sure of the health of the animals. There are 3 rhode Island red roos, a couple of silkie roos, a rabbit and a couple of ducks, there might be a couple more birds as well, pretty sure they have lice, I just cant take them in, I have more than I need now, so I thought I would post it here, they are all younger than a year old I believe pretty sure the ducks are very young maybe 8 weeks or so, if any of you know of a place please let me know
Actually Animal control will take them they do have a livestock setup. Especially if its an abandonment deal.

Good luck.

Hi Guys,

Ahoy from Palomar Mountain.
Just acquired a wonderful Bourbon Red Tom about a year old and he is LONELY!
Anyone of you resourceful people on here know where I can get him a concubine ....er...
I mean companion..?
(or 2)?
It would mean the world to him. It's not getting any warmer up here for the poor guy..

Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn,

Does he free range? If so, do you have a hard time at night getting him in the coop for lock-up? I've considered Turkeys, but I don't want to have to keep them caged during the day. Thanks.....

Hi All,
I don't know if it is the place to do this, but I am trying to re-home a rooster. I am hoping to get a home for him where he wont become stew... He is a nice hand raised and he is a 9 week old Lavender Ameraucana. Super nice. Price is very negotiable - I would give him away on craigslist, if I didn't think the person who picked him up would eat him...

Thanks for looking.

Quote: My Turkeys went in at night.... FWIW.... Albeit not exactly in the coop. they decided my Greenhouse Room was the highest spot to roost. Right over the back door on a piipe that led from the house to a structural beam..... LOL. Every once and a while one would sleep a little too hard and fall off... My computer was set up by that back door soo I heard Thats how I found out they were roosting there.

I suspect they can be conditioned to come back to the coop at night.... that roosting spot was a good eight or nine feet off the ground by the way and mine were some sort of heratige or wild turkey.... Dark brown with lots of Bling in the form of gold, bronze, green irridescence... Mr and Mrs T.... I miss em
