San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hi All, is there a place in San Diego county that you prefer/recommend for all you chicken needs and supplies?
A one stop shop would be nice but not necessary

Yeppa, depends on where you live in the county. I'm in La Mesa and we absolutely love Double S tack and feed in El Cajon. I won't say anything negative about two others I've been to (one in El Cajon and one in San Diego), but I find double s to have the best prices for feed and supplies as well as the best place for chicks. I've only been to the three though and depending on your location, try anything close. You'll probably end up hooked on chickens and you'll find your favorite feedstore in the process!! Have fun!

Im 10 min away from La Mesa so I definitely be heading over to Double S in El Cajon! Good to know I not to far away from a decent store
LOL... I buy all my feed there even cat and dog food. Rita (the owner) and the staff are very knowledgeable and if they dont have what you want and they can get it they will order it for you if their vendors carry it.

I have even done special chick orders with them. I bought Welsummers from them and because I wanted a couple of roos they were able to do that as well. Welsummers can be sexed as chicks. I was uncertain if all would make it so I ordered 25... 20 girls and 5 boys. One little one didnt make it through the mail and I didnt have to pay for it. Those chicks were hearty and roebust and eventually prolific layers.

Hmm....my last reply vanished...oh well, here's the short version. Yes to Rita! She is da cooooooolest!! Tell her Pepper sent ya!

If you're headed that way, make a trip out of it and either before or after the feed store you MUST go about 2 minutes past Double S to the county park (Flynn Springs). It's super awesome and always mello. I hardly ever see anybody there. Bring a lunch and lounge by the creek! We've been collecting acorns whenever we go and now have 36 little oak trees. Can't wait to get big!

And have fun with the chickens!!! I think she's got Rhode Island, barred rock, and hmm...can't think of the third right now. And she has ordered us any chicks we want, just ask!

:yiipchick :yiipchick GOT A DATE!! :yiipchick :yiipchick

We'll be setting up a pop up and tables on June 7th at the 2014 Wild West Serama Classic, Ramona Fairgrounds, Ramona, CA.

There'll be room to set up your own pop up, especially if you have a lot of good stuff that you're bringing, or just like your own space...OR you can join us in ours.
You can set up tables with items to sell. I only ask that you donate something to the Serama Show's raffle table if you do. More information to follow, but wanted to
give ya'll a heads up so you can mark your calendars :) Feel free to PM me with any questions.

If you haven't been around Seramas before, you'll enjoy these spunky, friendly little chickens. :jumpy

Hi everyone, i know you don't see me much here anymore, but i still love ya. I would actually like to offer to host at my place in descanso(alpine). It would be so nice seeing everyone and what better way to break in the new ranch! Allison, i would need your help though!
:yesss: Just say when!! :thumbsup OffGridMAMA has offered to do a meetup in early April, and we have a meet up planned for June 7th. Would be nice to fit one in, say at the end of this month, or early next month. I know were in a
drought, but it's got to start raining sometime. :yesss:
