San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Nervous for my first hatch >< Lockdown will be tomorrow and I never got a hydrometer so I'm just going to fill up all the channels at midnight.

Also! I'm having my driving test on tuesday, so wish me all luck. Hopefully I won't have a crying fit like last time.

If no one else wants it I could take another duck. The problem is I'm going to be out of town for a couple of weeks.
If anyone wants to get started with chickens Armstrong Feed is having their big chick days celebration on the 23rd. He said they'll have a thousand chicks of all kinds of breeds. The laying breeds will be girls and the silkies and bantams will be straight run. Wish I was going to be in town (on the other hand maybe I'm lucky to be gone.)

Hi All, is there a place in San Diego county that you prefer/recommend for all you chicken needs and supplies?
A one stop shop would be nice but not necessary

Hello, I need some input please. A friend has some Marrans and the youngest is 4 months and looking Roo-ish. There is no crowing or attempts to do so but there are two older roosters on the property. He/she was being aggressive to the Marran hen, so far no problem with the RIR. Any input would be welcome. The large rooster is dad.

Thanks :)

Hi ty..... VBG I am deb and WELCOME to BYC

from WAAAYYY east of El Cajon.

There are lots of good places..... It really depends on the area you live. for instance I share two locations One here in Santee and one about 60miles east out highway 8

Along that corridor I can count six feed stores. One in Santee Two in Lakeside one in blossom valley one in Alpine and One in Campo. Each will have supplies for chickens..... Not all will have all the different things you can find on the internet.

There is one Feed store that I know of in De Mar Called Marys Tack room. You will find one or two in Bonita .... There are two at least in Escondido.... Poway ... Then there are two in Ramona.

Some of the Walmarts in San Diego carry Chicken feed too.....

So no one stop shop. But lots of little friendly places that will help you out.
