San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

perchie.girl, did KW cages used to be in Ramona? I've been looking for a cage supply place. Didn't know it existed in Santee. Thanks for the heads up!

dfdesigns, I'd go with the Wyandotte. I have 2 SLW, they're smaller eggs and a bit darker than my Lt. Brahma and Australorps.

CAChickenNewbie, is it the angle of the picture or does that Silkie look huge?

I missed the Showgirl!! Drats!

desertdarlene, that's a great article. I didn't know we we're "enthusiasts". . . I just thought we we're "crazy"!

I think that's a nice way to say it.

When i started buying from KW cages was back in 1989 and they were where they are now. Dont know if they were in Ramona before. I love their cage wire. the 1/2 x 3 ten guage is heavy enough to keep out any predator we could imagine.

Your mystery egg looks exactly like the ones my Partridge Cochin pullet lays. I can bring one the next time I will see you to compare.

I used to live just behind the business complex where KW cages resides. Near Pryor and Atlas view off Prospect. That house I had four hens when my son was about five. I had to put a padlock on the door because the little girl next door would come over and just walk in without asking and try to catch one of my hens. There were still a couple of horses a pig or two and a few chickens in that neighborhood when I moved in. All Grandfathered in I am sure. World Famous Buck Knifes was on the other side of me till Santee nickled and dimed them to death they packed up lock stock and barrel and moved to Idaho.

Hey Everyone-

Does anyone have a use for XL wooden cable spools? My DH has about 5 right now, intact, at his work in Carlsbad. I know some of your are really creative with reusing things, so I thought I'd ask!

Free- if you pick up.

HI Everyone!

Sorry I misswed a great time, but my 31 year old son's birthday took precedence even though
it somehow went from a lunch to a later dinner, I was so busy trying to make all the
feathered critters comfortable inspite of the snowy weather up here on Palomar.

Look forward to the next meet up and will of course bring more coffee!!

Glenn

I do how big are they. If they are big enough for Goat Toys I want them all...

If they are big enough I can make a goat shelter out of them too. I can pick them up once I get some fuel in my truck.
