San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I know for a fact it is not the Barred Rock Sista's. I heard some loud noises this AM from the coop but I was so tired that I did not bother. Later in the day, I went in and did a rush job because I had to go to LA. One of the Deli's was pacing and making all kinds of noises so not sure if it was her. I suspect the Deli and the Gold Sex Link.

So yours will be laying SOON!

You mean the hell raisers? YES! you are right but you know what I meant.

I was being the referee yesterday w/ the little chicks while they were in the garden. I walked over this patch of dirt to be a referee so I would have known if I saw an egg. About 5 minutes later, I see the Scruffy RIR walking away and I see a freshly laid egg. Still warm. My GOSH! She laid that egg so FAST. Lay and run. WHOA! She is laying every day now. The BO every other day. There was a all out brawl yesterday w/ the Gold Sex Link and the scruffy RIR. She is still PMS'ing.

Although technically.....

Thanks everyone. I had no one else that would even close to understand. I do not even think I want to eat it. I may just blow out a pullet egg.

I came home and rushed in the coop with a flashlight to see if anyone else laid. NO such luck.

I'm glad you guys are getting eggs even if it's sometimes.

I went down to Lake Murray and those two Chinese ganders were being real mean to the ducks and were being aggressive towards Tom. So, I stepped in between the two and Tom and that brown one grabbed my pant leg and beat me with his wings. He usually doesn't hurt me, but the "elbow" of his wing hit me right in the shin. I don't know why they were so cranky today, but I guess they just don't have enough to do without all those other geese around anymore.

I did grab him by the neck and push him back and the two left me alone, but I hate doing that. I wish someone who could work with these two would come get them and take them somewhere else.

Just an unrelated rant, thanks for reading.

Oh, I thought I read that someone is not getting any (or enough). Glad you got that many, though! I think I ate that many today. I've been craving eggs a lot lately.

I believe they are 21 weeks old and the second group is around 19 weeks old. They have been doing that squat for a couple of weeks now so I knew it was going to be soon. I have been checking for hiding places and just making sure.

I think yours will be laying SOON.

Congrats Nancy on the egg!!! I think I must be the only one left not getting any yet, but Thelma has been squatting the last 2 days when I try to pick her up - and she usually runs away, so soon right? Maybe the extra light from longer days will help . . .
