Empireranch: I had the same problem w/ MM last shipment. I had fed 2 bags of MM chick starter to broilers so of course I did not quite know what was up. I did see all of the powder but when I fed the regular chicks, I saw that there was hardly any crumbles and LOTS of dust. I was very disappointed and quite upset since I had bought 10 + bags.

I contacted MM and was told to speak to the rep. In the end, we finally worked it out and I got it replaced but it was a real pita. It looked okay so I ordered a few more bags but I opened a layer crumble today that was VERY dusty again.

Not sure what I am going to do now.

Hi Everyone,

I will be bringing three 6-week old Black Copper Marans on Saturday. Nancy has kindly agreed to sex them for me. Any boys will be up for grabs, for sale ($5 each, just to recoup my costs) or for trade.

I don't have much information on them except that I received the eggs from a friend of a friend whose birds are from Bev Davis/Wade Jean lines and they were hatched by my broody. They've been on MM feed since birth. They get all kinds of organic greens, and other treats. They have NOT been vaccinated or wormed.

Does anyone know where to buy Valbazen here in San Diego? Or better yet, does anyone have any they'd be willing to give me a portion of for 15 chickens? The tapeworms are back, if they ever gone, though the garlic did seem to help (thanks Tammy). I need to bring out the big guns now and can't seem to find it. I called at least 10 feed stores between Ramona, Poway and Escondido and none of them knew what it was or seemed able to order it. Let me know, thanks!!!!

"Valbazen" is a brand name. The drug in it is "albendazole" you may be able to get it under another brand in the other livestock dewormers. There is also "fenbendazole", "Panacur" is a brand name with that drug in it and is essentially the same.
Try Carter's feed and supply in Lakeside, they are very knowledgeable and helpful - if you tell them your problem and what you are looking for they should have something, might be another brand, but same. If not they can probably order it quickly for you.
