San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

We're still deciding, but we're thinking Ramona, as there is the potential for an indoor back-up plan in case it rains...

Also, I have a pretty constant supply of baby SLW so whenever you want them I should have them!

500??? Your poop patrol sounds like painting the Golden Gate Bridge... finish at one end only to have to begin again at the other!

Okay, I won't complain anymore about 15 chickens. I do feel like my life involves a lot of poop, with three horses, an old cat and a toddler who is NOT interested in potty training!

Next week many insurance companies are lowering their insurance rates. If anyone thinks they are paying too much for insurance now and is interested in reviewing their policies, now would be a good time.

I got a few extra Barred Rocks when a friend of mine ordered some chicks a couple months ago, I will give a free pullet to anyone who purchase a policy from my company, one pullet per policy ($500 minimum premium to qualify) while supplies last.

Actually it could be a little less than $500, I know I paid a little under $500 a year for my Homeowners insurance and under $500 for my Auto for 6 months.

I have been doing some reading about Quails and this is what I found out.

Quail eggs are Cheaper to produce than Chicken eggs.
Quail begin laying in Just 58 days compared to 161 days for chickens

Another thing is said is that Quails are remarkable in efficiently converting feed to eggs.

Just thought I would pass on some info I read. It is from a pamphlet that I got many many years ago. It is called Raising Coturnix Quail for Meat and Eggs. It is old but some of the info is timeless.

I will look into it and ask for a quote. One of my cars is up in a couple of days but it is locked up w/ the others for multi discounts. Will it be okay to pull the others out and cancel early?

Cari,

It depends on a lot of factors, but generally speaking most rates are lower, from Business, Worker's Comp, Home and Auto, one exception is health insurance. Since our president stepped in to make health insurance more affordable, all the health insurance companies had increased their rates!
