What did Cari hatch out for you??? How exciting!

I lost a chicken this week.

I can't wait to get our new netted-top outdoor run finished (hopefully on Monday) so that everybody will be safe. I'm fairly sure a hawk swooped in to the barn's paddock and grabbed her; there were a lot of feathers. Sigh. She was so sweet, and one of my best layers.

My Ameraucana roo finally starting (pathetically) crowing this week - it is week 26! No eggs in sight yet from the girls.

"Quitters" are eggs that started developing but for some reason died as embryos. An early quitter would be between days 1 and 9 or so, a medium quitter between days 10 and 17, and a late quitter would be a chicky that is almost fully developed but died for some reason before hatching.

Unfortunately, that is the risk with shipped eggs. I did everything identical (THEY WERE IN THE SAME BATOR!) as my EE's and had a decent hatch, there are just about a million and one variables. You can contact the lady an tell her only 2 hatched and see if she will send you some more; I will hatch more for you.

I like the Cream Legbars, too - very cool! That place sure has a lot of neat chickens.

BTW - my son LOVED your goat milk! I think we'll have to become regular customers...
