San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Valley Center is nice, or the unincorporated area of Escondido. There is small community on the outskirts of Fallbrook called Rainbow, that is mostly large acreage of agriculture, Pauma Valley is nice too. I'm sure there are parts of Poway that would be okay too.

There is a lot of unincorporated areas near larger communities, that you shouldn't give you any problems with roosters.

Thanks I have about 70 birds now, I can only assume by then I'll have more

I'm in Jamul and I LOVE it...

there's more farms out here and more land. It's also pretty and green (most of the time, not all), and not *too* expensive, like Fallbrook or Poway. Any of the Easternly towns (Ramona, Alpine, Jamul, Descanso etc) would be good, but you have to keep in mind they aren't "in" town. We have about a 25 minute drive before we are "in town" where the big stores are. Even though I still love it. Here are pictures of my backyard.

Cari, your place looks beautiful! I met a family in Deer Valley that started a small vineyard. I think that's close to you. I grew up in Fallbrook (circa 1976), before the 15 even made it to Temecula.. I've lived all over North County, except for the beach areas.....(sorry beach folks, I just happen to like sunshine!!!) I visited a friend staying at a campground in Jamul last summer. It was the first time I'd exited the I-8 in that area. I agree, its beautiful country. I am not that familiar with the East County areas, but you are right, they are definitely a great place for chickens!

Well, sunshine is predicted for this week! I am going to get started on my new coops with or without the help of my husband. He was a grump last night, and wouldn't even look at my plans

Well, when he sees you out there working he'll feel guilty and chip in. It's a beautiful day!! I can't believe they're predicting snow tonight...don't think it's going to happen.

As far as SNOW Ridgecrest got over six inches on Sunday, the first in twenty years. Today is very foggy and I need to go out and drive. Not nice !
