Since I am an avid gardener I looked up compost for rabbit poop.

It is execellent! Enough nitrogen to be effective, but not too much so you need to worry about burning. I have found it to be one of the best, way ahead of horse or cow!

I'll take five of the poop manufacturers ! No just joking but they do sound cute. Cari, with a little help from your friends they will have new homes by and by.

Does anyone know if the feed order has been placed yet?

Yep! I placed it a couple days ago, waiting for the rep to send me the totals so I can send him a check.

Cari, I can just see the little guy in the last picture talking in a tiny squeaky voice saying "Pweez take me home" lol
Maybe you can bring them all over, let them mow the lawn, then maybe ask my DH if we can have them! It might work, gets him outta mowing and how can he resist those wittle faces?

edited to say: OR... I could just sneak them in on Easter morning in the baskets! Um uh.... that dang Easter Bunny!!!

Hehe!!! At least if the Easter Bunny brings them home he can't blame you for it!!!

Yes, rabbit manure is a "green" manure, meaning it needs no composting before you put it on the garden. I actually did a tomato study in my soils class last semester, we did a control group with normal soil, one group with chicken manure, and one group with rabbit manure. The tomatoes grown in the rabbit manure mix actually grew the biggest and strongest, it was pretty cool seeing it firsthand.

You could try bunny poop paper. Anyone have any extra rabbit manure around? (ha)

By the way, are you feeding all of these mouths on your own? If this is a rescue project, and if you are feeding them to be kind, you can put us down for $20 toward food, and we'll give it to you when we do our pick up. That's probably only 1.5 days in Bunny World of Jamul, but...

It's a good thing you're doing. Maybe this will get you out of "I've-been-paving-the-newbie-road-to-chicken-ruin" purgatory.

You are too kind Elara, yes I rescued them on my own and am feeding all 25 little mouths...

How about I give you a big bag of rabbit manure in return for your donation?
big_smile.png
I'm sure you have some trees or flowers or veggies somewhere that would appreciate it?

Cari, When do you need it? Are you going to Norco? Borrow it closer but if you cannot find it and NEED it, I have 4 of them. 3 Large and 1 EXTRA LARGE. What are you going to put in it? Not Maya???? That would be EX-Large. Not even sure she will make it in there.

Does anyone have one of these I can borrow for one day?

(Not the dog, the crate).

This is like those "free dirt" Craigslist things, isn't it, where you have to come and shovel out someone's rock pile. I know what you're up to, Cari.

I'll take your crap anytime, you know that - and thank you for it (ha - how weird am I that I'm actually serious about taking the manure). I was actually ready to do my annual 12-cubic-yard order sometime soon from the Red Wiggler guy (he collects it from horse farms, composts it for a year, puts it in a huge truck and dumps the pile in my driveway - neighbors are resigned by now), so when Perchie Girl mentioned the Bandini Mountain, my ears perked up and I start thinking about trades. Back to the "free dirt" concept, I think.

I have one of these:

(Doberman size, so I think it's probably the biggest one they make). You are welcome to borrow it, but I'll have to clean the spiderwebs out first. Since the Great Chicken Lump Mysteries of 2012 (Book 1, Hernia; Book 2, Overeaters Anonymous; Book 3, The Vet Now Owns My House); we also have the one-cat size and the two-cat size. You are also welcome to borrow those, too.

Cari, You are so much like me. This is what would happen to me, I am SURE of it. I have Bun Bun and I added another. I was at the nursery one day and a Black rabbit showed up and eating Mondo Grass. The owner of the nursery wanted to "dispose" of him.

I went and got a net and threw lettuce to distract him and captured him before anything bad could happen. I named him Rainbow because that is where he was found. He is next to Bun Bun and they seem fine. He is very friendly and I pick him up and play with him. Could be more friendlier than Bun Bun. If that is possible.

I will email you privately about adoption and or/ I want Elara's deal. Poop for food. Ugh..... Does not sound so good. I am going to the feed store and I will buy extra so you can feed all of those mouth's.

Show right? They have another that I cannot think of right now.

Hey guys I need a little help... please read....

As everyone knows I raise rabbits... well I found an ad saying someone had meat rabbits and were getting out of the meat rabbit business and giving away their entire set-up. So I'm thinking cool, I'll get a couple more rabbits and cages etc... So I contacted them and started emailing back and forth, come to find out it was a really old man and he was extremely concerned that the rabbits went into good hands... Well I get there and the poor guy is like 95 years old and going in for heart surgery, from the way he was talking it didn't sound like he thought he was going to make it out. So we go out back to see his "meat rabbit" set-up and what do I find but a bunch of Netherland Dwarf and Mini Rex crosses and a couple angoras. NOT meat rabbits BY ANY MEANS. I mean these things are teeny tiny and CUTE and extremely friendly. The guy's failing health didn't allow him to keep up with them and so they were in filthy cages etc... I felt SO bad for the guy, you could totally tell he loved his rabbits and didn't want to get rid of them but didn't have a choice. Poor guy. Anyway, I talked to him for a bit and I ended up taking all the bunnies. At this point I am considering them rescues and I need to place them in good homes. If you know anyone looking for cute little friendly bunnies please give them my contact info and/ or let me know. I have about 25 of them with the babies and supposedly one more is pregnant.

Anything anyone could do will help!

Thank you!!!
