San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Throwing this out there... I'd like to check fertility on one of my new boys, but I'm not ready to host another round of chicks quite yet. Is anybody interested in second generation Olive Eggers? (My 1st gen was French Black Copper Marans and Cuckoo Marans under my Black Ameraucana. The resulting hens (all black) will be crossed with my beautiful French Blue Copper Marans.)

I may set some eggs soon; please let me know if anyone would be interested in some chicks. This batch will not be sexable at hatch.

A BYC banner and magnets sounds great, you are so creative! I reserved a space next to Renee's so we should have plenty of room for all that want to sell or just join in the fun. :D Gail and I are both bringing some chicks and fertile "hatching only" ;) eggs.

Hi, good question. The woman in charge at the Ramona Harvest Fest is Sandra Wolf, I would text her directly @ 760-871-5814. Hope to see you there.

I texted her about animal sales... she said we could sell whatever is legal... Because of the new law signed in earlier this year, I am not going to risk it.

This law: http://www.thedogplace.org/LEGISLATION/CA-Bans-Animal-Sales_Coats-11.asp

"This bill would provide, in addition and with specified exceptions, that
it shall be a crime, punishable as specified, for any person to willfully sell
or give away as part of a commercial transaction, a live animal on any street,
highway, public right-of-way, parking lot, carnival, or boardwalk, or to
display or offer for sale, or display or offer to give away as part of a
commercial transaction, a live animal if the act of selling or giving away
the live animal is to occur on any street, highway, public right-of-way"

I don't think chickens count as livestock are excempt, but rabbits may be included according to ARBA bulletins.
