San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Thank you All-American-Chick, and your family, for setting up a table to represent our local BYC group! Did all you of know that the Millers are local celebrities? Renee won a contest for GRIT magazine and she was featured on a news segment. Check it out here: http://www.cbs8.com/category/155799...art=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=7862492
Thank you Wild West Serama Club for letting us join in on the Serama Show fun! For once it was cool in Ramona, perfect for a day like today.
Thank you Phage for the beautiful rooster. I came home and checked my boy and he's looking worse. I'll try Tylan, and if that doesn't work, I'll have to decide if I make the call to the vet.
As always, I enjoyed visiting with all the BYC peeps!

and no mention of the crowing contest?.........

KKH how is your sfh rooster? Is his foot any better?
I worked on him a bit today. I made a couple of deeper cuts on the top of his foot. I did find some pus, but I didn't get to the source. I'm on day 3 of Tylan. I think I'm going to have to take him to the vet.

tahahaha and we laughed at her practice crow too.
so sorry gail, you are the crowing master.I bow to your abilities oh great one.

Well, there WAS a crowing contest. Apparently there was a plant and the award was bestowed upon said plant. What some people will do for a little bit of glory!

Hey everyone. I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in a Mottled Bantam Cochin roo? I hatched him on September 12,2012 so he's about 6 weeks old now. The eggs came from West Knoll Farms. I really wish I could keep the little guy with his 2 sisters, but I worry about when he might start crowing. If anyone would like him, let me know.

What happened to his foot?
He's got a case of bumble foot. I can't find the kernel and I've tried. The poor guy sees me coming and he's off and running.

Actually, he's in a pen in the garage. I have an appt. for him tomorrow morning. Just don't know what else to do for him...this is truly
a last resort or I know I'll lose him.

You ever going to post that picture of Clarey? I'm dying to see how he's matured.

Do you have any Icthamol. (a drawing salve used on horses for abscesses) Its a black salve and nasty sticky so you d have to wrap the foot .... But It has analgesic properties and will draw an abscess safely and quickly. I had a gelding that drove a piece of wood up into his frog and it got infected. The vet cut the frog away to soft tissue and had me smear that stuff on and bandage with a baby diaper. It took a while beause Horse feet are very complicated. But I know others that use it in all sorts of other locations.

same stuff for people

Id buy the horse stuff and not put your fingers in it to keep it clean just use a clean spatula or throwaway tongue depresser to scoop out what you need then keep the jar closed so you can use it also for your self.
