San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I'm excited - I think I'll be able to make it Sat (after Little league & karate) after all!! I'll bring some hummus & veggies or something & probably the 2 kids (9 & 11);
I have 3 Large Brown HenSavers that I'll bring in case anyone is interested. We currently don't have any hens (we left our girls in Maine when we moved to SD in August) but are starting to get situated & want 3 or 4 soon - we had Barred Rocks which we liked, but are open to suggestions? (whatever we get will need to be fairly docile as we are in the city & good layers). Looking forward to meeting you all!! Meredith

Are hen savers saddles? I know someone is bringing me 1 but when I was looking at my girls yesterday I think I need 3...

SOUNDS fun, Weather today in ramona, Sunny and a little windy!!! Drove by the park at about ten, lots of shade trees, and the grass looks beautiful.. I am very excited. I think i am just going to have one serama 7 month pullet and maybe a few chicks looking for homes!! sounds like a blast..

I'm really looking forward to the meet up. I picked up name tags today for everyone. I should be able to get there by 11:00. I'm not too far away. Seeing all these birds is really going to be tempting!!

Well, I just emailed Kev and told him to put me down for 3 NN's

Sure hope Kev gets back to me with the details of where to pick up these turkens ? Yesterday he still had not committed to the ride but did tell me what he has as far as what I asked for and let know that one bantam hen was good enough for me.

Sunny of course I can not answer for KKH but I like turkens for their good egg production and quite personality. Now I have not raised many but did have a pair and they were very sweet and almost everyone agrees on that point. However many do not like their NN and limited feathers elsewhere. For me that is a plus and for anyone else who has processed birds for food.

SunnyCalifornia, I think they're fun to look at. I've heard how sweet they are and that they're good layers. I'm all about pet chickens so they fill all the requirements for me. I have one. She has a big bowtie so I wanted something that shows more neck.

Flower, Kev said he may come down....I've been corresponding via email. What are you getting from him? I don't mind going up and picking them up next week so don't worry if it's not convenient for you, I understand. With his computer out it's taken longer than I expected to get info from him.

Sunny California, I think you'd love 'em if you gave them a try. C'mon, just one!! Tell Kev to throw one in for you!!

Sweet looking girl!

I do not have much to bring on saturday, and was not going to bring any birds unless someone wanted these guys.
1. a nice Lavender orpington roo
2. a couple of BLRW chicks that hatched today. They are from Bishopschickens here on BYC. Parents look REAL nice.
3. an opal and a white peacock from last year.
