San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Is anyone bringing chicks/ hens to the meet-up for sale or trade? I have some started chicks at 8wks and some chicks under 2 broody hens that are 3 and 4wks old now (prob to cold for hatching's). Gail hatched bunch and all the bators are full! HELP!!. As well as hens and a Buff Brahma Rooster (big boy crow) that was hand raised and is really sweet!
Counting down the hours now.... see you folk soon!

Heya Jules! I've got a spare bator if you need help hatching a few *giggle* I think I'm full up on my capacity for chickens, but I always love hatching them hehe

What would your fees be?
I would charge $1 per hatched egg for BYCers. Are you coming to the meetup? I have it running right now to make sure it is holding temp and humidity. I went home and checked it today. So far so good. I think I am going to put a few eggs in it tonight. Oh the fun begins!

I've been predator free for over a year but last night took its toll. I lost 16 layers, not good for business.... Something? we think Bobcat dug underneath our largest cage, evern though the wire was buried & curved inward. This animal was serious about getting in~!

My question to all of you...does anyone have 12 week or older (up to a year) pullets for sale. I'm looking for production birds. If so, PM me with details & price. Thanks in advance

Oh Lynne - I'm so sorry! That must have been a huge shock. I wish I had some extra birds for you, but (like Allison) none of mine are really production layers.

Cute picture of the day: I shipped eggs up to Utah, and these little cutie pies hatched yesterday. They are F-2 Olive Eggers - 4 blues and a black. Is there anything cuter than fresh chicks?

I'm really looking forward to Saturday! It will be lots of fun to chat chickens, relax, see old friends and make some new ones...

Cute chicks Dana!

Look at the bright blue eggs one of my Legbars has started to lay!! Wahoo I am hatching those babies! The eggs that look white are actually your standard robin's egg blue sort of color - then I get these really bright ones. If I were closer to the nuclear power plant I would be worried she was going to also grow a third eye or something.

I don't know if it is the weather or something but today the ones mine laid were all awesome blue as well. SOO weird.
