San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Ooohhhh- the weather report is saying 30% chance of rain for Saturday.

I have an EZ up and a few others are bringing one as well. Anyone else have an EZ up they would not mind bringing? I am hoping that it will be just a bit of a drizzle. We'll see what tomorrow bring and go from there.

I am still looking forward to Saturday, rain (as long as it's just a drizzle), or shine.

Anyone have any purebred black ameraucana chicks or eggs they can sell me?

Hoping to bring some young (6 ish weeks) chooks on Saturday

2 olive eggers
2 mille fleur leghorns. One looks like a roo.

Also
younger chicks but I would prefer not to bring them unless someone wants them for sure as they would get cold:
blue laced red wyandottes and mille fleur leghorns
also maybe some isbars and silver pencilled rocks and silver laced wyandottes both from Dick Horstman.
Also
1 blue maran x BLRW (blue chick - brown egger)
1 isbar x mille fleur leghorn (blue chick - olive egger)
Please PM if interested.

I have a black Ameracauna that I've been meaning to arrange a romantic meeting for with a friend's black Ameraucana roo. Obviously I don't have anything on hand but if you can't find anyone else, I'll have a reason to stop procrastinating. (My friend would like more Ameracaunas hence the idea to get my black Am and Lavender Am together with her roo.)

Life has been crazy. I am hoping to be able to make it on Saturday. Will have to decide last minute. Quite a few deciding factors. If I cannot make it, is anyone in the LA area going to San Diego? Cari has my roo and wants to return him. HA!

I knew Miriam wanted Double Yolkers but I have not had any. Then 2 days ago, my Freedom Ranger that lays Double Yolkers started laying them again. Well, her and another hen. I have 3 right now that I would like Miriam to have.

Sadly, I have Cream Legbar pullets but they do not have a man. I am in desperate need of a Cream Legbar roo w/ a straight comb. I have some but they are still chicks.

Looking for either Olive Egger chicks or pullets or eggs. And Basque hens, again pullets or eggs.

I have Isbar chicks that were hatched from Greenfire eggs. No idea why I bought them, I have now decided not to have yet another coop built for another breed. lt would be a complete waste to put them in the egg layer coop. I am willing to trade.

I would come to the meetup if anyone was interested in a gorgeous Lavender Ameraucana roo. He's just maturing and really needs a flock of his own. Too pretty to go in the pot.
Anyone?

Still checking the weather like a mad person. Despite the giant rain drops that are falling right now the weather reoprt is giving good indications that we should be precipitation free at about 10:00 am tomorrow. However, it will still be a bit cold. As such, I think we will change gears a bit and open up the garage for people who bring little chicks. (Just don't laugh at the seeminly random stuff on all the shelves - OK)

So, there will be protected space available for chicks and then we will have EZ up canopies set up as well. So, the show will go on. PM me if you still need the address.

To recap:

We will be having the event TOMORROW, Sat Feb. 9th at my house from 10:00 to about 2:00 pm or so.
There will be a raffle and potluck
Please feel free to bring your healthy chicks, chickens, hatching eggs, and any other homemade crafty things to sell and trade.
Kids, friends, neighbors, etc are all welcome!

I am looking forward to seeing you all!

Best,
Kristin
