Darn it Al!! Now I want a green egg laying chicken!!!

Hmm, how can I rationalize that one? Lets see, I have 4 bantams that are show bantams, so they don't count. I have 3 pullets that aren't laying yet, so they don't count, guess that means I only really have 3 chickens, and I said I'd stop at 10 chickens, so that means I can get one, right? Actually, I could get 7!! I don't think silkies really count as chickens, so I could probably get away with adding in a few of those too. What do you think? Does that work?

The egg is kind of small, it looks large next to the silkie eggs.

My chicken math is so bad that I don't know how many I have now.

How are your hens doing today? Have they made anymore fast breaks for freedom?

WELCOME DEB!!

Details for the meet up are still being discussed. Stay tuned for more info!

I'm so glad we're having another meet-up!

Deb - welcome! Several of us have horses, too, so we can talk about 4-legged beasts as well.

Al - congrats on the green eggs! Those look very similar in color to what my EE is laying. Aren't they pretty?

I am still drooling over the lavender Ameraucana chicks... will any of those be for sale? Gorgeous!

welcome-byc.gif
and welcome to "Hey San Diego! Lets Meetup".

Have to say that I love your signature: soon to be owner of a Bizillion chickens and Guineas.... Wow, you have big plans. Most of us started out with "I only want 3 or 4 chickens", but now we have.....(well, I can do the chicken math more or less than "Sunny California" did in her post earlier). Do not even ask how many chickens I have now, so lets just say "a Bizillion" sounds about right. So if you already start with a Bizillion, I can hardly imagine with how many you will end up with....

(Chickens are like potato chips....you can not just have one {Bazillion}

See you at the next meeting.....

Hi Deb and welcome to chicken mania. You'll love this thread.

I am thrilled that another meet up is planned. I have it marked on my calendar already.

I tried to follow up on the Hawthorne Country Store Chicken Days date and can't find any advertising on it yet. I'll call tomorrow and see if they have a date. I didn't know about it last year, but that is where I got my first 6 babies last April and they told me about it. Apparently they order tons of chicks for delivery in late February and it's a huge weekend event.

I've been trying to rush my latest babies (now three months old) into young adulthood so I can combine with the older girls and free up my small coop. Gosh, I planned to have six chickens, then I got three more (and two guineas), then I had a chicken attacked in the yard (and, sadly killed)....so I had to get four new babies to replace her....more chicken math here. The guineas were recently re-homed (way too LOUD and aggresive) so I'm 'down' to 12 birds

I have been dreaming about Chicken Days ever since I heard about it. Now that I have a strong laying flock, I can consider ornamental designer chickens. I think someone said earlier, silkies don't really count in the chicken math equation, right? And, I am really dying to have at least one green or blue egg laying chicken. And those Polish chickens are too cute...and now I've seen Seramas...and I can't beleive how gorgeous White Mountain Ranch's SLWs are.......the possiblilities are endless, and I have an empty brooder.
