San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hello everyone...Currently, I am worrying about my 4 wk old chicks. I know for sure that my SilkiexJG is a roo - he is developing his feathers slower, is /huge/ compared to his fellow hatch mate and his legs are quite thick. However, I'm worried about my RIRs. If they end up as roos, I'd rather find them a home but RIR roos are known for their bad temper - so they'll probably end up as dinner.

Hello everyone. I've been MIA for a while since I stopped working. Who would have thought NOT having a job would leave me busier than having one?

I'm going up to Northern Ca to see my grandson for his 1st birthday and will be stopping off at METZERFARMS.COM to pick up some babies. If you want to place an order with them, I will pick them up and save you on the shipping and minimum order amount as long as you pick them up from my house in Vista when I return. PM me for more info on dates, etc.

Also, if anyone has Welsh Harlequin I am interested, Metzer wont have any when I get there.

Wendy
I just ordered Welsh Harlequin eggs from them for delivery July 2.

Literally yesterday.

These will travel 7500 miles to hatch though.

That is quite a long haul. I was wanting ducklings, though. I don't try to mess with duck eggs anymore. That why I have scovy - they do it for me. But I will not have any broody so, the ducklings.

Did find my maran under the back steps on some eggs. All but 2 have hatched and since I was unable to keep others out of there, I started the bator just in case. I also have some chicks coming in from efowl.com (no shipping fess right now). and along with the Metzer order, going to be putting one into Cackle for more. Trying the surprise package. I already confirmed they wont put in game birds so I'm a little excited what they DO put in there!

Anyone interested in a pair of red golden pheasants? I have a pair of juveniles. They are unsexed but one has a longer tail than the other.
Please pm if interested.

better get the chicken math calculator out

thats a lot of baby poultry

i have a friend with 100 or so scovy. They are hatching new genetic lines of scovy as well as goose I hauled from here. They are great broodies.

Thanks...I ordered it from...somewhere... ;) I figure it might be better to wait a couple days to use the best stuff. I'm a little worried though since my turkey died last week, and I now have at least one chicken with mucousy, slightly frothy droppings.....ugh. I just pray it's not my Legbars!! I already lost one to a predator and the other two just stared laying this week!!

Have you been battling this long? What did you try?

I have a Welsh Harlequin duck and would love to find a drake for her. I only have the one and she's in with other ducks but she really is special. I love everything about her. She's a couple of years old and good quality. Would like to find a good quality male.

Dang, it was lava hot in VC this morning. I ended up putting shadecloth on my whole run, took three rolls :( Even the morning sun felt like lasers on my skin!
