So sorry OGM... I think they just loose their appetite.... but you know as with horses their digestion is delicate to oustide influences... That whole probiotic thing.... I bet the heat really does a number on what ever they have in thier crop and gut....

Thanks everyone, only other chicken people understand. I've lost some in this past year (this weekend was my one year anniversary of owning chickens). But not ten in one day. I'm just sick to my stomach over it. I feel responsible for their well-being and well today I failed them. Ugh. Just thinking thinking.

Well **** this mama showed up here after weeks of being missing with 10 chicks. Moved them all into a coop and now she is up on the roost and the chicks are down in the run huddled together. Will she come down if they start peeping for her?? Its 85 degrees still here in Harbision Canyon . ugh HELP!!

Id make them up a broody pen with no perches and no way for anyone to escape.... Momma will warm them if they need it....
Is this her first time?

That's sad. Try putting something they can wade in. I have a kiddie pool and when it gets really hot they'll stand in it. Just like we dip our feel in a pool when hot, it really cools you down. Another is to just dump a bag of ice in the shade in the run. The ice will melt slowly giving them a VERY cool place to dig a hole and lay in.
