I have hens that sired these and they are very good layers.
I also like using the wire mesh when they get alittle bigger, easy to keep clean. When I have a broody hen I fill the bottom pan and floor w/shavings so they are standing on shavings until they are bigger. Cleaning is easy (a rubber dust pan to scoop out shavings) just add more shavings, and they dont stand in puddles when they tip the waterers. I just omit the shavings when they are bigger. I think its more hygienic all that fresh air blowing up there feathers and all. And sooo much easier for me!
OH the imagry.,..... even better without pictures. Kind of gives new meaning to Mosh Pit....I am curious though does anyone here brood on wire? I mean after they go past their baby fluff and get a feather or two. I did this with my keets because while yours are baby destructos Mine were Monster trucks in the destruction department. I used a rabbit cage then layed down quarter inch plastic mesh on the bottom. Now I dont need shavings because the poo falls through. and the tray underneath is cleanable. Oh they still spilled food and water but it also went into the tray. deb
