You are hatching some crested breeds!!!!

but I love all babies LOL

Speaking of which... how's your current USA batch going?
bators are brimming

I have 1 nesting box where 3 silkie hens are all broody. I finally gave them eggs and they just keep stealing them for each other.... Strangest things. All together i think i have 8 broody hens..... So silly - there are no eggs under most of them....

LOL! When I go to collect eggs from under whomever is hoarding them, the others get predatory and are like, "Those eggs are MINE now!"

I'd find eggs to give them, but I have a horrible track record at giving away pullets, and can't keep roosters. I'm at as many chickens as my lifestyle comfortably accommodates, so ... no babies. Even though I *love* watching a mama hen with chicks. Nothing sweeter in the world.

My little bantam EE who's only been laying a few months does this thing where she puts every egg under her, pretends to be broody for an hour or two, lays her egg, then jumps off and goes to the feeder. One of my Olandsk will push away all of the LF eggs and leave all the banty eggs in one spot. Chickens are so full of drama. I love them :)

Strange little creatures, chickens.

How are you liking the Olandsk? It's a breed I've drooled about.

Oh no!! I'm so so sorry for your loss. Chickens are hard to lose, but dogs are really terrible. Especially ones with great presence which I am sure, as a mastiff, Maya had.

I can't go this weekend, bummer. I know my kids and I had fun last time. We are finishing up our 6 month landscaping project and DH just had the Big Snip so is requiring me to do most of the work. I figure it's a good trade;)

Have fun!!!!

LOVE them. Good size egg for a one pound chicken. Banty egg, but a big one. I can bring a couple of eggs for you. Not sure if the hen that's laying is letting the rooster do his business though.
