San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Its been 6 weeks since I have handled a chicken. I am going through withdrawals.

Fortunately its only 2 weeks till I will be setting eggs again and hatching chicks.

The original eggs I took to the Philippines from Lake Elsinore and Valley Central (Yay OGM) are now producing 12-18 eggs a day - of which 10-15 are on my place (the remainder are in my wife's father's back yard).

Much too long Oz

There seems to be lots of chicken stuff lately :) this one is not free, but the feeders alone are almost $60 so its a good deal. I just bought two more feeders.

Chicken coop walk in -$125 (Escondido)

Raised Walk-in coop with attached 4 nesting boxes that can be accessed from outside for egg collecting. I'm selling everything with it- waterer, feeder and small shavings. Can be dismantled will fit in pick up bed.

Oh, and Some Mille Fluer Leghorns and Speckled Sussex.

Between the Swedish Flower Hens and the aforementioned speckley birds, it will make it interesting for Bernie to tell them apart. I guess that's why God invented assorted colored zip ties.

Does this mean we have reached the pretty&ornamental phase of the plan? Yaay ;) yes those speckled ones will be tough to tell apart as babies! Hopefully I'll be ready to send houdans, Swedes & polish in a few months :)

The primary focus is the elusive Australorp. I do have 2 doz eggs coming each from a local, a norcal and an out of state supplier .

Then the pretties and fluffies. Blue and brown eggs. Pretty chickens. Its funny to me but white eggs fall into the pretty too - gotta have some in the basket.

I had a contact for white faced black polish but they lost their flock - seems to be trendy lately.

Your mad hatters and such may be perfect for the second annual Christmas hatch.
