San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

My chickens are wishing for webbed feet this Christmas so that they can get out of their coop! My whole yard is under water.... as well as my garage

Sunny California, you might have to change your name! I hope my yard's not flooded, I did at least check that all the drains were clear before we left. Good think about all the rain is I just planted ground cover and a pine tree on my slope, so they should be happy now. I miss my chickens (weird, I know), and I really hope the first egg is not laid while I'm gone.

Fortunately, my coop has a raised wooden floor, so other than wet pine shavings near the windows, there shouldn't be any standing water in there. But its been almost a week since my girls have gotten to get out in the yard! I bet they are going stir crazy in there!

I hope for the best for all your coops!

So are the ducks loving it or what?

Just watched the news and it said that the mountains (where I'm at) has received 13" of rain in the past 6 days!! The trees need it so I guess I should be happy....garage is flooding though

Been finding lots of earth worms though so the chickies are lov'in it.

I need to make room for some Turkens!! Anyone want any laying hens, all 9 mos. I could part with my Brown Leghorns (actually my best layers...ssshhhhh, just don't tell DH), my Buff Orpington, RIR, . . . any takers???

Rainy Day Fun-

.......I wish that I had duck feet. And I can tell you why. You can splash around in duck feet. You don't have to keep them dry......

Who recognizes those words?

Ok, here's what living in the sticks gets ya....

Flooded basement, road washed out, pond that was dry "yesterday" (& holds 80,000 gallons) full & overflowing, & crazy chickens who won't stay undercover

Oh well, the majority of the time it is "paradise"~!
