CAchicken - thank you so much for the compliment. I think those little silkies would be stunning with purple! If you bring some lilies I could take more pics. I will be bringing some silkie babies to the meetup. Lilies are my favorite. I didn't have any real ones and just took a low res pic. I bet we could make some really pretty photos that I would just love to have and share!
I adopted another people-lovin duck today from a nice older gentleman in La Mesa. She was raised alone (no other ducks) just with him and not really fed properly, the man just didn't know. Anyway she is very sweet and also is a "house duck" although she never wore a diaper (I know, Yuck!
) so I will be working with her to get her eating right and adjusted to her new life. She already accepted the diaper without much fuss. I am going to try to get her to tolerate duck duck. The man named her "ducky", how funny is that? ducky and duck duck.
She is already a regular park-goer so it is likely she will be at the next meetup! Her previous owner took her often to Lake Murray Park so I know it is ok to bring birds as he had spoken to the rangers about it when the ranger mistook him for someone trying to catch one of the resident ducks! They came to know him after that.
Since ducky has 2 crests, one on each side, my daughter decided to call her "Leah" as in Princess Leah.
Duck Duck's actual name is "Doc" but he never answered to anything but duck-duck. May be the same situation with ducky since she is at least 2 years old now, but we will try.
This duck amazingly was trying to hatch more than 40 infertile eggs and I'm told became depressed and wouldn't eat because of it. He asked me if I could take her and help her. Poor baby threw up all over the car on the way home, she was being fed cat chow and earthworms.
