San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I do have about half of a container left of my Valbazen and it should be enough for 15 chickens as you only give 0.5cc to a large fowl chicken. I can bring it on Saturday. However, you probably will get some faster by ordering it online. I ordered mine from "First State Veterinary Supply" and can also highly recommend Peter Brown, the so called chicken vet, who runs FSVS, for all your chicken related health questions.

Cari, When will you pick up the LOAD? Will it be on Saturday morning? If so, I could come by and help. I feel so bad that I am never around and you and everyone else is doing all the heavy lifting. Anyways, just let me know.

I am hoping it is not powdery too. It may be a coincidence but I bought Kruse's Chick Starter to replace the Powdery MM and it was the worse I have seen it too. So no clue what is going on. I may just have to stick w/ the Cascade Mash, that seems to have a whole lot less powder in my mind.

I am having a feeling that it COULD *partially* be the shipping companies. If they load the feed rough and then bounce it around rough in the trucks that would break up the pieces?

Oh and we decided to have it shipped right here to my place since the shipping co. raised the shipping prices it's actually the same now to have it shipped here or to El Cajon, this way I only have to load and unload twice instead of four times.

My chickens also do not like powdery food, but just because they do not, I still will not buy any processed pelleted food for them. Instead, if the crumble is a little too powdery, I do add some yogurt, whey from my cheese making or some organic ACV water mix. They LOVE that and it also adds some really healthy nutrients to their food without in-balancing ingredients in the food too much.
Just a thought....

Just putting it out there. You never know. I hatched a batch of Corturnix Quails from a BYC member and they are not up to size. If anyone wants females for the eggs let me know and I can bring them along Saturday. The males are crowing and I can get the exact date but they are around 8 weeks old.
