OK I am curious now... What is a Mule duck. Are they sterile like mules?
If I understand it correctly, yes they are sterile. They are 1/2 muscovy (which is not a true Mallard type Duck) and 1/2 domestic duck (mallard type). Pretty much all domestic ducks are Mallard derived (Pekin, runner, buff, hookbill, swedish, campbell, many more)
So, the nice thing about these 3 mules is you don't have to worry about ducks breeding out of control, plus they are very quiet! One "quacks" but its almost unrecognizable as a quack and very faint. lol
Cool.... So a mallard type and a Muscovy are different branches of evlolution like Donkeys, Zebras, and Horses..... Do they lay eggs?
I know with mules they are sterile but the Molly's do come in heat. And the jacks have the urge to mate with them. Even though each is sterile. (BTW not all Mules are Sterile just most)
