San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

cara,
thank you so much for the mgb chicks.they fit right in with the group of chicks we have already.
that one is so tiny.I gave them meal worms but she likes the soft pupa the best.

Jared claimed her as his own.

Have a safe trip to see your dad

thank you much.
Ill write that on the next calendar

General rule of thumb is to have them be 30 weeks old by butchering time. Or 6-8 months. So you would hatch the poults out around April.

Welcome!

I was at Kahoots yesterday, and somebody was ordering turkey chicks... I'm guessing they won't be for Thanksgiving?

Cari - are you selling turkey, or is it just for your family?

Looks like we're in for some more interesting weather today. If I look t one window, it's gorgeous. Peak out another and it looks like Storm Central!

Yeah, if they were ordering them now it was either for NEXT year's Thanksgiving, or a breeding project... either that or they didn't know and will be sorely disappointed!

Yes we are selling them, I am still in the process of determining price, how much they eat and trying to figure out approx how much they will weigh come Thanksgiving. This is our first time doing them so we are still working through the kinks. If your interested I can PM you the info when get done with it.

Yes weather is so weird! Rain one day, then 106 degrees, then cool weather, then it poured here last night again!

Only thing I can say is I am REALLY enjoying the coolness!!!

Definitely keep us posted on the turkeys, Cari. I would probably buy one.

Just FYI guys; I am temporarily suspending my meat-bird project until after we move and I am finished with school... So I will be selling off what I currently have.

All birds are between 13 weeks and 5 months;

We have some really young fresh processed chickens available for sale. Perfect age and weights, they should be good ones. I am only processing as I get the orders in so they will be fresh and not frozen. Please let me know if you would like to purchase some and I will process them and meet you down the hill for delivery.

Also, I have a bunch of hens that I will be selling off so if anyone wants a couple layer please let me know. They actually lay really well for meat-birds.
