Cari, do you have pics of your shipping crate coops? I'm wondering if they're everything my mind has me convinced they are.

I'll have to do the work myself so I want to make sure I'm not jumping into anything I can't manage.

Haha yes we have plans for every square inch already... lol... not really but close!

And yes with all the Ameraucanas I have, I started an EE pen where I can put all my non standards or ones with faults. I love EE's.

What's the name of the company; I can tell you if it's the same ones I got mine from. I am very happy with them.

Heck if I had the money I'd get another one, they worked out so well. Easy to clean. Easy to close. Spacious, but not big enough for much more than 15 babies or 6 hens; it gets too dirty after that.

Only thing is they are VERY heavy... it would take 3+ strong men to be able to move it at all. Basically once they set it it's done.

Here it is after we cut the door in half. We use this one for a baby coop so we leave the bottom closed so they can't get out when they are still too little.

Here is the inside after we put the roosts but before we did the ventilation.

I think the only thing I would have done differently next time is, instead of cutting the door in half I would cut two large squares out of it and cover them with wire. More like a screen door. That way I could still close it all the way up and have ventilation.

Thanks for the pics Cari! I think I'll get two and face them to each other with a run in the middle. I was thinking of keeping maybe 10 bantams at the most with that kind of set up.
The number I called was in Miramar. Does water get in? I'll eventually want to put slant roofs on them, but that won't be right away. I'm already way in over my head!

Yes it's the same company. They are in Miramar. it's called Storage Solutions or something. 10 bantams would be fine if they were split between the two, I wouldn't do ten in one, unless you want to clean it out A LOT.

I wouldn't set them face to face, I would do two separate runs for each one. But that's just me. The doors are really big and take a lot of room to swing out.

Plus it would be more aesthetically pleasing.

Hope this helps!
