20 or 22G are fine and so is the 3/4" needle.
I think you can get water soluble Tylan but from what I read on the peacock section giving the injectable kind and IM and into the breast is the fastest and safest way to give it.
If you have new sick birds I would not hesitate one second before giving it, if for no reason than to protect the birds you have. Even if the infection is viral it is very unlikely to do any harm.
I keep tylan, sulmet, vitamins, ivermectin and frontline, neosporin and vet wrap, syringe and needles in the birds supply box "just incase" .
Figure if you don't have something on hand, it will be the one thing you will need in an emergency and I live far from any decent feed store!!
Best of luck with your new guys. There seems to be quite a few diseases about San Diego just now. Maybe it is the "season" .
Hi Phage,
I had everything on your list except Tylan...figures.
Lynne was kind enough to come to my rescue and gave me enough to treat the birds I have at the moment.
Hi Perchie, I use Betadine to wash wounds, never Peroxide. I will dab on full strength if the wound is very dirty, then I will dab again with 10% solution. I'll be ordering some Tylan.
