San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Allison, Thanks! I will pm you my address. I hope it works out. Like I really need more chickens.

Not sure where your son lives but I am in the San Gabriel Valley bordering Orange County. I can always meet him somewhere if that works.

Compared to your spread, my ladies are living in TIGHT quarters. I will try to get a pic of the place. I bought horse property w/out any horses. Thought the dogs would enjoy the place.

Allison, Does your friend still have the pullets? I would be interested but not sure when I will be in SD.

I also wanted to let you know that I still have both scruffy hens from you. The move was harder on the Buff Orpington. She hangs out at the nest box more than I would like. Edna has blended right in and is one of my FAV's.

She is not far from my feet looking for handouts. She is laying a HUGE egg. The BO is a freeloader.

Hope all is well with your flock.

Nancy

Hi Nancy, I just spoke with her last night so I'm pretty sure she still has them. I'll see how long she's willing to hold onto them. If you PM your address maybe I can see if you're anywhere close to my son and he could bring them up to you the next time he's down here.

I'm glad you're still enjoying the girls. You'll have to post pics of your new place. I'm adding to my flock with Swedish Flower Hens. I chose them because of their friendliness, hardiness and variety of color they offer. I have two in my brooder and will be getting more eggs soon. I hope to build up a decent flock.

Good hearing from you!!

Like who really NEEDS more chickens ?? But hey why not a couple more as long as they fulfill their duties either as good layers, moms, protectors or at least be fairly amusing ! Renee did you have a good hatch from DDD's eggs. I have been trying to talk her into shipping chicks since I am pretty much a failure at hatching . Maybe I'll try again in the springtime. During this season I have plans to let a friend who lives nearby use the Brinsea and help me to learn where I am needing to change my style. Allison I like both of them and might do a trade after I breed big blue and have a few nice OEs ?????? After all those poor molting birds should be the right color when their feathers grow back.

Hey, I'm using a Reptibator. It seems to hold temp well, but the digital thermometer probe is in the lid, not at egg height. Just checking, I need 99 @ egg height right?

aww allison you let nothing slide.
is this the humor you told me about ?

If you prefer your welcome to borrow my incubator, but you would need to do my eggs too.
I say this in love not sarcasm.your always welcome to it whenever you want.

Love,
your friend that has complete confidence in her ability to hatch eggs but realizes anything can happen.
(yup left a loophole)

Renee, now this "your friend that has complete confidence in her ability to hatch eggs but realizes anything can happen." is much better than any grain of salt!!
