Actually the sewage is vented about five miles off the coast. at the edge of a shelf.... I believe. I could be wrong. The Kelp harvesters that work around Point Loma process that Kelp into a powder to be used in everything from lipstick to ice cream. I know when it dries it is paper thin. .... just thinking out loud...

I guess it would be okay if you were to gather it from a fairly remote area that didnt have a lot of pedestrian or animal traffic. I might gather it say from a secluded cove in PL, Birdrock or LJ area. You are ride about the sewage outlets being miles off the coast. Now down in your area, you have the TJ river and that is even worse than what comes out of the sewage pipes ! ! ! ! Just a thought.

In my younger (dumber) years we use to surf that river mouth (duh, that was dumb), because it got really good when it lined up right! But then again we surfed all over baja, including Ensenda jettie, so we probably had built up resistance to the water quality....or just got lucky!

I had a serama chick hatch Monday night. Its really wobbly, and just struggling. I am trying all I can think of to get it up and going, but I think I'm losing ground. It is an only chick, I didn't have a good hatch. I've tried sugar water & B vitamins. It went from almost dead an hour ago, to standing up again. I stuck it back in the incubator, as it doesn't seem to do well anywhere else. I'm going to put food and water in there & some hardboiled egg yolk.

Anyone have any other ideas?
