Good news about little chick, Sunny! Sounds like maybe he's getting dehydrated? We had a problem with silkie chicks under the heat lamp not drinking enough and had to regularly dip their beaks in water. Interestingly enough, it was also the silkie chicks that had pasty vent...

$20 is the current price for a bale of hay in Ramona. A while back alfalfa got to almost $25/bale. Two years ago bermuda was $9 / bale and alfalfa was cheaper. Doing the math - I don't know anyone whose salary kept up with that kind of increase in cost of living...

When I started buying hay for my rabbits a year ago it was about $12... now it's $18...

Advice, give just a little bit at a time. Seems hay thrown in the pens go "stale" fast, they ignore the left over hay if not collected by the next day.
