Hey everyone! Anyone want to go in on an order of Ameraucanas from John Bhlem? I really don't think I want to order $200 worth just for myself. I am thinking I want about 12-16 chicks. I want to order 8 LF Lavender and *8 bantam lavender. The minimum order is 25, so anyone else want some? The LF colors are: Black, Buff,lavender (2) left, silver, wheaten. Bantam: buff, lavender(7 left)silver. He also has Chanteclers. Anyone interested, check out the order page at chick hatcher, and let me know how many and what colors you want.

RH ranch when I looked at the page Chicks by John Blem I some how remember the min for bantam is 30. 25 is for LF but I am not quite sure. Those prices are way over my budget although I could add on just two if you need them to get the correct total. Let me know if you do.

I want to ask you all to let me know what your 2nd and 3rd color choices are (in case Blehm substitutes). I am guessing you fellow lavender fams would want blacks, but there are other colors, I will look at your guys color choices, and pick the 2 most popular 2nd choices. I am sure we don't need to worry about it though, I bet we will get what we order.

La Palma: 3 Lavender Bantams
Flower: 2 Lavender Bantams
SD Paulo 3 LF Black, 3 LF Lavender

Hey I though Deb was his Mom. Hey Deb are you talking about the order from Bhlem ? If so you can easily see the size difference between LF and bantam even as chicks. And of course the color is fairly easy also. Black will look black, lav will look lave and Buff may be whitish with yl tinge. No Buff for me though don't want BUFF AMS

I got lost trying to follow this thread. Where/when are we doing the feed pickup for your order Cari? (I'd vote El Cajon if we are still deciding). I like the new BYC Platform. I think its more accessible and aesthetically pleasing.

I think I am confused now. I have no Silkies yet I am adopting two from Overthehenhouse a black and a splash I believe. As far as being someones mom My son is not on BYC..... too busy being a NON farmer.... LOL. Going to college.

I was asking the question about telling the chicks apart on the Order from Bhlem only from a curiosity stand point. I understand the size difference between chicks and how to tell the bantams from the LF. But when it comes to a Silver Wheaton or other colors arent they kind of chipmunky colored chicks..... I know with Guineas its an art form to understand color difference between Keets and Adults. Many look the same to me.

With the Blehm order, it seems that it should be easy to tell apart the colors because lavender chicks are silver, and black are black... so far no one wants any other colors. I think Blehm has pictures of the chicks in each color on his site, though.

I have only ever ordered Keets by mail a truly nail biting experience. Newly hatched Keets are very tender. I ordered mostly dark keets either Pearl or royal purple and a few lavenders, and pieds because she wasnt sure she could fill the order with just dark Keets. FWIW Pearl Guineas are brown and buff Striped. Royal purple are brown and buff Striped but they have White wings and chest. Pieds are brown and buff striped with buff on their chest but not on their wings. Those last two to an inexperienced eye look the same. And the Lavenders and pied lavenders and the buffs all look silver to me as keets. But thats just color differences not breed differences. So they all have the same physical characteristics.
