San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Unless my previous buyer changed her mind, I have two left: the Partridge Cochin and a Barred Rock. I could possibly be talked out of an additional Barred Rock if this person is really hot for chickens...

Chickens are SO much easier to market and sell than horses...

So, I'm kind of dumb. My excellent incubator friend has informed me that there is some development in my eggs (way to go, roosters!) and that I just might have some fuzzy butts soon. I am unprepared to feed these new beaks - you'd think with the way I hog the Modesto Milling orders that I'd have some chick starter around here, wouldn't you? Sadly, I don't.

Does anybody have a bag of MM chick starter that they don't need/would sell? Soy-free would be a bonus, but I'll take what I can get. Thanks!

Dana, I sent you a pm.

Hi, I have a friend and her mom was in cat rescue for many years. She is getting out. She has LOTS of cages that they are letting go. I bought some and there is alot left. I doubt I can fit the really big ones in my van but if anyone is interested I can give dimensions. The only problem is that they do not have slide out pans. I think they were originally for rabbits. Not sure. There are single and double cages and a few are HUGE, maybe 7? 8ft.? They would be great for quarantine. All in really good shape. Never had birds in them. PM with interest. I can bring them to the meet up.

I am sorry but I will not be able to get pics of the ones at her house. I am under the weather and do not think I will be going that way anytime soon.

The dimensions of the smaller ones are 3ft.wide, 18" in height, and 30" depth- single cages
The double cages are 4ft wide, and the rest is the same as above with a divider in the middle. They did not use the divider and they are cable tied to the bottom. Can be easily removed by cutting the cable ties.

There are 3 VERY large ones, I am going to guess they are 8ft wide?, 25" in height? and depth 25"??????. I highly doubt these will fit in my van though.

How many of the smaller ones are available and how much are they? I might want 2 :)
