San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I didn't plan very well, but I could bring some bantam old english eggs. I might have 1/2 dzn by this weekend. My little banties free range with all my layers, and are the sweetest little things.

I got back yesterday (visiting my mom) to an interesting egg. It was laid by an olive egger (only have one). The egg is blue but looks as if it has been spray painted and she ran out of brown pigment!

Wow, beautiful!

Gosh that almost looks like Granite..... I hope you are putting those in the bator. You could call them Grainite eggs.
Do you know the cross that made your Olive egger? Up until now I havent been intrigued by Olive eggers...

Sadly not fertile - No rooster, but I do know the hen was a cross between a wheaten maran and a wheaten ameraucana. I have her half sister as well who is pure wheaten maran and lays the dark brown eggs.

That OE is may fav hen personality wise. She was a totally ugly chick who I was convinced was a roo for the longest time. Almost gave her away at least half a dozen times.

I have nineteen Welsummers brooding. I hope they lay nicely speckled eggs. I want some Ameraucanas as well eventually. I may play around with that, a little.

That’s one cool looking egg! I love the kaleidoscope of egg colors.
