San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Wow What a GREAT GREAT day. I had so much fun meeting and talking to people.... I had to come home and take a nap.

Sparkle and truffle are happily munching on crumbles and stirring up their bedding. When I left Moms house Truffle Belted out a couple of crows..... Gawd I love roosters. Man he has a set of lungs. Oh and when he did that All the wellie Peeps shut up..... I peeked in their bin and they had hunkered down for the night. Too cute.

Sparkle hasnt said a word yet... too busy stuffin his face...

I got some of Chef Glenns Coffee the stuff from Peru.... I cant wait to get a coffee grinder and give it a try.

Oh and I cant wait to work on what ever Project Dana decides on. Happy dance from me on that one.

On the way home I came up with a good idea for making a home for the "Boyz" and creat a temporary brooder for my Wellies.

Dana, THANK YOU!!!
You have a beautiful house, and property. It felt so comfortable, and relaxing. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and my two girls did too. I think we should all pitch in for a spa day for our event coordinators. They did a top knotch job!

I can't believe it, but I think I actually got my fill of chickens for the day!!! LOL

Thanks to all for putting on the meet-up, it was great to see so many BYCr's together and have a chance to "talk chickens" with other like minded folks. I had a great time and came home with a pair of Swedish Flower Hens! I missed a few of you because I was late, but anyone in our area who wants Olive Egger Eggs, just PM me anytime. I can't wait until the next meet up!

Yes thank you Dana, definitely a wonderful day!

You guys did such a wonderful job with the whole thing! I loved the raffle and prize awards and everything was just awesome!

Ok guys I need your help please. I had planned on getting an above mentioned incubator, but somehow I didn't see it or missed it while it was there.

I had planned on coming home with one incubator worth of eggs to hatch, but with unexpected hatching for a friend and getting more eggs than I thought I am out of room in my incubators!!! Both of them are completely FULL! I can't stuff a single 'nother egg in there and I still have a dozen that need to go in!

I would be THE most thankful person in the world if someone would please let me temporarily borrow an incubator!

It would just be for this one hatch and then I'll clean it extra good and give it right back...

Please let me know, thank you!!!

If I had an incubator to loan, it would be in your hands already...

I can't believe I'm going to type this, but whatever - I'm hopeless. If any of my eggs that Renee is incubating actually hatch, it should be sometime close to this weekend. I figure if I'm going to go to all the extra work and worry that goes along with new fuzzy buns, I might as well go a little farther. Is anybody expecting a large fowl hatch anywhere around this coming weekend? I'd love to have the chicks as close in age to each other as possible. I'd love some lavender Ams, maybe some Welsummers, maybe even another Marans. I don't know - what all is everybody hatching? I'd love to hear about what you've got. After selling off a bunch of my layers, my coop seems kind of empty.

Renee: I'm going to be collecting a dozen eggs for hatching for a friend, and I need some fun brown layers. Could I buy like 2 or 3 Wellie eggs from you?

lock down is tomorrow on our eggs.
Im going to candle tonight and take out any clears.Looks like only 4 of my brahmas are viable last time i peeked.

The kids have been praying for a good hatch.

also, if anybody would like wellie chicks I hope to have some in the next couple days.

Also also, keep our goat in your thoughts as she may be kidding tonight.I havent seen contractions but she is all puffy back there and we could see the kids moving inside her.Never saw that before. She didnt want me to leave her side today as i cleaned her pen.So she is in the kidding barn with a nice fluffy bed of shavings and good nummies.

I haven't been on the computer till now but wanted to say how much fun my daughters and I had at the Meet Up! Thanks so much for organizing it, and thanks so much to Dana for opening her home. It was really fun and relaxing and so great to meet so many of you and put faces to names. I'm really glad my boys are going to such a great home at Deb's - Sparkle and Truffle are special little guys and I think they'll be really happy there. I was so tempted by so many beautiful birds and chicks - I'm honestly surprised at my restraint! Glenn's coffee is amazing - I had a cup of Burundi this morning and was blown away by how different and delicious it was.
Beautiful birds, nice folks, fun time - can't wait to do it again -
Amy

Cari, I have an incubator you can use. I'm in Valley Center but come to San Diego every Monday. I could leave it with my son so you could pick it up any time.
