San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Ok for you experienced incubator people. I candled today which is day seven. some of the eggs looked like this.
This is an image I got off the internet. The dark part I am seeing is about a third of the egg not half. I was thinking that the top part of the egg should have an air sack.....

The blue eggs look as if they have some veins.... but wasnt expecting to see anything yet. and certainly nothing like the above.

Shouldnt I be seeing air space at the big rounded end of the egg or the top that sticks out of the tray.

It's too early to be sure, but it looks likely that 2 of the mixed chicks are male. One is an American Game Bantam mom x White Cochin roo, and the other is a Leghorn Exchequer mom x White Cochin roo. The Game Bantam cross is petite, all white, with lightly feathered legs. The leghorn exchequer is feathering our black and white with lightly feathered legs.

If they do turn out to be boys, would anyone be interested in one or both?

Guess what I had for dinner....

Guinea Egg French toast. It was pretty good.

It took five whacks on a porcelain tile counter top to crack the shells. And talk about a rich and creamy yolk.

The eggs were a little old so I opted to eat them this way for the first time.

I'm not sure where you're located RyeRanch, but a new friend was just telling me she gets her Mazuri somewhere in Poway... I can find out exactly where if that's closer for you.

I am in Poway, that would be great if there is a source right in town.

Thanks,
Kristin
