Like I should talk… Yesterday was lockdown on some eggs for my farrier. (At least I’m not keeping any of them, right?) I moved my three week olds out to the barn, and they were loving all the extra space. They looked so huge in the bathtub, and so tiny in a 12 x 16 stall. I caught one of my juvies (a Silver Campine) hanging out in the nest box, and one of my two lazy Ameraucanas finally started laying again. YES!

I’m excited to see so many of you on Saturday! I was wrong about my dates, so my husband WILL be home - that means I can spend all dang day there. YIPPEE! I am bringing a box. One small, tiny, minute box. Only one. No more. ONE BOX.

Hi Friends!

I need to announce the following:
I am powerless over chickens and my life is unmanageable.
DO NOT let me bring home any orphans, strays, special needs chickens,
or anything with a beak!

Thank You,
Glenn
I will hovever be bringing to meetup some of my fresh roast coffee for the raffle.
(Some for sale too..)

I see I have a volunteer to take my two 6 wk old cockerels.

I can bring various sprigs of fresh herbs if anyone wants. I have rosemary and mint coming out of my ears, modest amounts of oregano & thyme. I may pot up some of my bionic cherry tomato seedlings. The seeds were originally from Seeds of Change, heirloom cherry tomatoes (the name has faded in the mists of time) and these are the craziest most vigorous tomato plants ever. They reseed themselves every year, and will thrive in ANY soil. Even, it seem, in no soil. I have two large plants growing out of cracks in my patio, and last year I had a producing plant grow out of a crack at the side of my house, which I never watered. How? Its a mystery. I found several new volunteers this morning, and as I don't need them where they are at I can dig them up and pot them. You will never need to buy (or plant) a cherry tomato plant again. I have awful clay soil, and this variety acts like it is wonder soil.

I can also bring my vegetable seeds. They're all from good seed companies. I don't have tons, but if anyone wanted to plant a few of this or that I have: several kinds of peas and beans; thai basil, lemon basil, purple basil, genovese basil; Martian Jewels corn (pretty purple husks); armenian cucumber, yellow squash, thai chile, jalapeno, sage, 2 kinds of pumkpkin, a few other things. I've had great fertility with these seeds.

How about a one-eyed duckling? Muw-ha-ha!!!!!

kkh how are rescued duckies doing?
Thanks for asking! DonaldFan opened their home up to two and they're already hanging out with the resident ducks. The one I have is going to her permanent home this afternoon to a wonderful lady who has a couple of rescued ducks already. The duck is still a little gimpy but I'm hoping her new mom, an RN with 40 yrs. of care giving under her belt and experience with animal rehab, will be able to help her.

So if it doesn't have a beak it's game?

I was going to ask the same thing. I'm glad she's doing better. The lake worker said she didn't think that duck would ever be normal again, but I hope that's not the case. I wish she could be with her sisters, but at least she'll be with other ducks. I was worried it was a hip injury that might make her egg bound in the future.

The other two rescue ducks that I have here have already started bonding with their favorite drakes. Daisy is hanging out with Donald while Daffodil is hanging out with Duckers. Daisy has taken charge of the entire flock - she yells at the boys if they go too far. My poor muscovy is feeling very left out, though. From Beaker's reaction to the new girls we are convinced he's a drake, also. Anyone have Muscovy hens?
