I'm going to guess BLRW. (Why? I have NO idea.) What a sweet little face!

I'm completely amazed that your broody lets you get anywhere near her, much less near her chick. Mine will take off a finger if I get too close, even just to replace her water.

Hello Friends of White Mountains Ranch,

White Mountains Ranch is calling for volunteers this Friday (June 22nd, 2012) for moving 30 horse corral panels from Campo to Jamul.

Mostly we need muscle, people to help lift and load, (as the more hands the easier!) but if anyone has trailers or other vehicles available that can carry corrals please bring them.

We will be meeting at White Mountains Ranch in Jamul at 8:30 am. If we can get enough vehicles to make the move in one trip we should be done in just a few hours.

Lunch will be provided by White Mountains Ranch via Filippis Pizza in Jamul.

Please RSVP via email ([email protected]) and let us know if you will be able to make it.

Thank you much!

My broody was weird. While the eggs were cooking and the chicks 1-2 days old, she'd grumble at me but was ok with me checking the eggs or holding the chicks. And then - no way. She became FIERCE. We'll see how she does the second time around.

She's a very tame chicken I guess. It's to the point where I just put my hand in there and stands up, opens her wings a bit so the chick can fall out and I can see the remaining eggs under her due to hatch Saturday. I really hope she stays dedicated until then! Only 4 1/2 more days

Cute chicks, Nikki! And what a beautiful EE egg... aren't they fun to find in the nestboxes?

Cari, I hope your move goes exceptionally well. We have full slate this weekend and I am a bit compromised from falling in the barn last week. (Long story that involved chasing a chicken and keeping a strange dog out of the aisle... I'm too old to busting a move on concrete!) My knee and elbow have seen better days, and I'm still fairly ouchy.

so sorry you took a fall.hope your arms and knee feels better soon.

here is a picture to make ya smile
