If you take some chickens, just be really careful and make sure they a LEASHED securely. You wouldn't want one of the hens your fighting so hard for to get loose and start a wild chicken chase.
I think that utilizing leashes will help people view your chickens more as pets than livestock. How many people see a child walking a chicken down the street on a leash?
You could also pin some of the hen's ribbons to the harness.
Please test the harness at home. You do not want an untrained bird flopping around on the end of a leash. Won't quite give you the image your looking for.
Make sure not to take any roosters or very loud hens to your demonstration. You don't want to give them fuel for the whole "chickens are too loud". We all know how a terribly excited rooster is.
