Sapphire gem - pullet or cockerel

I want a sapphire gem to add to my flock. Someone has this one for sale. I want to make sure it’s a pullet before I buy.

I was told it was 6 weeks old.

Is this a hen or rooster?

Might be a bit early to say for sure... and I could be wrong... but I think it's a cockerel.

Pullet for sure. Cockerels are barred This cross is sexlinked! Even ignoring sexlinking, it has no traits of a cockerel!

I have 2 pullet sapphire gems at 12 weeks today, one that looked very similar to this one that I have pictured at 5 weeks. Mine's comb/wattles were not that dark, but yours doesn't have barring which is a good sign it is a pullet. I think it might be too early to tell for sure with yours. I know they are supposed to be sexlinked by barring, but they are constantly not bred true. Mine has barring pictured but grew out of the barring and is just lacing now.

of course! Light grey is the one I pictured before, and her sister is the darker bird. They are 12 weeks tomorrow [rechecked the calendar ]
