Sapphire Gem vs Blue Sapphire Plymouth Rock.

Ok, so I have a question. Are Sapphire Gems the same as Blue Sapphire Plymouth Rocks? I have a Blue Sapphire Plymouth Rock, named Safaia. I got ‘her’ at my local co-op. Anyway, was just curious. I’ve also heard Sapphire Gems are sex-linked... is this true? And is the same with Blue Sapphire Plymouth rocks?

Yes, SG and SBPR are the same thing: a sex linked hybrid of Blue Andalusian over Barred rock. If yours is a SG/SBPR, she is a pullet because she is solid, not barred. She's adorable!

Yes! Thank you! I was super curious, I kept trying to look stuff up about the difference, but didn’t seem to find much. I was super worried she’s a cockerel, because of the comb, but thank you!

I was told the Blue Rocks are a Blue Andalusian over Barred Rock, but the Sapphire Gems take it one step further and are the product of the Blue Rock bred back to a Barred Rock.
