Hey y’all,

I have a sapphire gem I bought from TSC. He’s the lowest on the pecking order, everyone hates him, however I think he’s beautiful. He’s also the only cockerel to be black the rest are the grey color (lavender?)

I noticed on his barring he had that oil slick color I’ve seen on my Rhode Island Reds tail feathers. This guy has them on his wings though!

Strange anomaly?
Different genetic cross?

What do y’all think?

Looks like he’s black barred, which means his black feathers can be iridescent. He could be a black sex link rather than a sapphire gem.

Also, if the other cockerels you described are barred, they’re probably blue barred, not lavender.
Ohhhh that’s pretty cool!
The others have barred heads/necks but not bodies.
