Hubby and I got all the recommended covid vaccines, and neither of us ever got it. Or if we did, we were asymptomatic.

A friend of ours was given the choice to get the shot or else find another job. She got it to keep her health insurance, as her husband was ill at the time. But, dang! did she cuss about getting the vaccine. She hated our governor for the mandates and shutdown too.

I wonder how many lives the shutdown and mandates saved...?

I will never find it again but some academic epidemiologists did quite an interesting analysis of that comparing places with different policies.
It was a lot!

I bet it did. But this woman wouldn't believe it if she read it. Covid is a topic we do not discuss. If another pandemic happens (or when it does), that will not be a topic of conversation either.

We are getting the usual February thaw -- 40s and even a 50+ in the next week! -- but we all know this is just Mother Nature's joke.

Yes. The Mekong. The Elephant Sanctuary is directly across the river from us. I hope to see them over morning coffee.
This morning in Chiang Khong was 61 and glorious! We stayed down a long dirt road at a banana and rubber tree farm. I absolutely loved it. My travel companion was terrified! She's pure to the core city girl staying with a pure to the core country girl.

We crossed from Thailand to Laos on the Friendship Bridge IV then boarded a long boat for a two-day cruise down the Mekong arriving in Luang Prabang.
