I hate the stuff myself, nothing uglier than seeing someone chewing like a cow, or trying to talk to someone when they're chomping like their life depended on it.

and for those who do chew this candy stuff, please keep your mouth closed.

I agree, open mouthed chomping is really annoying. I only keep peppermint Trident around if I'm at work and want to get rid of my lunch breath. But I always chew discreetly and quietly!

Now I can agree with that, but it is NOT candy.

Now Miss Yappy Fingers, let me refer you back to Nifty's original post and pole question....the bolding is my emphasis

"Okay, settle a debate... er... um LIVELY DISCUSSION between my wife and I:

Do you consider "bazooka" or "Double Bubble" gum "candy"?

What we consider something to be is not necessarily what it is. For example, I put things such as candy, gum, pie, chocolate muffins and etc. in the category of sweets and treat them the same when considering what I serve, what I allow the kids to have and how much.

So from my perspective...candy and gum are not different except one you chew and consume and one you chew and throw away later.

Now of course, my Reese cups are not in that category...they are in the category of "I am menopausal and you will give them to me when I want them or you shall suffer"

whole different thing...completely, yes it is

EXACTLY! This was a question on quick perception and not dictionary definition. The real question was, "Before reading this thread, would you have associated Double Bubble gum as "candy"?"

For example, a "candy bar" definitely doesn't fit into the confectioner's definition of "candy" but I can promise that most people consider all the chocolate goodness bars they get put into their "candy baskets" during Halloween (where people pass out candy) as a form of candy.

Example:
A parent asks a child: "Did you already have some candy?"
If the child had a Snickers bar, should the child answer yes or no?
If the child had some Double Bubble, should the child answer yes or no?

Ain't that the truth.

I believe the bible states: "Submit to the wisdom of ye wife, for she shall ravage thy life if ye fail her."

No the Bible says "Husbands, love thy wives whether or not they feel like loving you at the moment or not".
